Cuba's path to the World Baseball Classic semifinals hasn't been an overly difficult one.

The country won the underwhelming Pool A, besting Italy, Netherlands, Panama, and Chinese Taipei. The entire division finished with a 2-2 record, but Cuba's claim to the top spot came via its plus-10 run differential.

Cuba actually opened the tournament with a pair of losses before scoring a 13-4 win over Panama and a 7-1 victory over Chinese Taipei.

The nation made it three wins in a row after defeating Australia 4-3 in the quarterfinals. Chicago White Sox star Yoan Moncada was instrumental in the win, reaching base four times and tallying a run in the victory.

The U.S. will undoubtedly be Cuba's toughest test yet. Team USA has won four of five games at the tournament, with the squad's recent win being its most impressive.

The Americans took down undefeated Venezuela in a memorable 9-7 victory. Philadelphia Phillies infielder Trea Turner sent the U.S. to the semis with an unbelievably clutch eighth-inning grand slam.

Venezuela was a perfect 4-0 prior to that game, finishing first in the highly-competitive Pool D.

Roenis Elias will start on the mound for Cuba. The 34-year-old owns a 3.96 ERA across 133 major league appearances. He has a 2.57 ERA in two outings at the World Baseball Classic.

Adam Wainwright takes the bump for Team USA. The 17-year veteran has a 3.38 ERA in 457 big league contests. Wainwright is 1-0 at the tournament with a 2.25 ERA.

The over on this total has hit in just one of Cuba's five games and in three of Team USA's.
