The Toronto Maple Leafs are still on the ropes after losing the opening three games in their second-round series against the Florida Panthers, but they've bought themselves at least one more game.

The latest: Any good vibes lingering from Round 1 are dead after Toronto's embarrassing start to its series against Florida. The squad did stave off elimination, however, with a hard-fought 2-1 win in Game 4.

Toronto's odds shortened fairly significantly after a win in Game 4.

Entering Wednesday night, the Maple Leafs owned the longest odds (+2,500) of any team remaining in the playoffs. That number was nearly halved after their first win of the series.

If you're looking for a reason why this squad is falling apart, there are four good ones: Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, William Nylander and John Tavares.

That star-powered group only has two goals in this series with both coming in the most recent outing. That's roughly $40.5 million in talent failing to rise to the occasion.

Their top stars not delivering is a big reason why they've scored two goals in six consecutive games.

Toronto now stares down the daunting task of winning four consecutive games to keep its season alive. It has one down, but only four NHL teams in the league's history have managed to pull off this feat.

Considering the lack of precedent for teams to climb out of a hole like this, it's fair to think that Toronto's +1,300 odds to win it all are a little light.

The Maple Leafs have fully approached miracle territory, and any bettor looking to wager on this squad may want to wait for a couple of wins first, even if it means taking a shorter price.
