Week 1 is over and half of the NFL's hopes to remain undefeated are alive.

The pregame narrative: The San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles met in the NFC championship game last year and share pole position on the odds board. Miami holds the shortest odds of any AFC team and the Green Bay Packers are worth a sniff at +1,800.

The favourites

It's hard to argue against these teams being favoured.

The Eagles scraped out a 25-20 road win against the New England Patriots in Week 1, but certainly have a lot more to give. Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith form a three-headed monster on offence while the team's defence remains among the league's elite.

Philadelphia is a 6-point favourite over the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday Night Football and has four straight winnable games against mediocre opponents following that.

Our outlook on San Francisco is even rosier.

The Niners walked into Pittsburgh last Sunday and routed the Steelers. Every facet of their game was on point. The offence put up 391 yards and 30 points, the defence had five sacks and the special teams looked... special.

San Francisco hosts the Los Angeles Rams in Week 2 before taking on the New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals. A must-see Week 5 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys looms large, though.

Other choices to remain NFL's last undefeated team

The Jordan Love era started without a hitch last weekend when the Packers blew out the Chicago Bears 38-20.

The third-year signal caller threw for 245 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He did only complete 55.6% of passes, though, which is a bit of a beige flag.

But the reason we're bullish on Green Bay is its schedule.

The Packers take on the Atlanta Falcons this week and then head to New Orleans before hosting the Detroit Lions on Thursday Night Football. Then, they play Las Vegas before an early bye week.

Those are all winnable games.

The 1972 Dolphins are the only team in NFL history to go undefeated and win the Super Bowl.

Can Mike McDaniel invoke Don Shula 51 years later and replicate that? It's unlikely, but being the league's last undefeated team is certainly within the realm of possibilities.

The Dolphins' schedule is tough but this team is capable of going punch-for-punch with anyone. Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill torched the Los Angeles Chargers' secondary in Week 1 as the offence dropped 36 points in a nail-biting victory.

If everyone stays healthy, expect to see record-breaking numbers from this offence.
