The NHL follows up a break in the schedule with 14 games on Wednesday.

The pregame narrative: Three totals have my attention from this slate. The first is the under between two stingy teams in the New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins. It's a pair of overs, however, that round up this ticket.

Check out my NHL parlay picks for November 22.

NHL parlay picks

Parlay: Rangers vs. Penguins under 6.5 goals + Devils vs. Red Wings over 6.5 goals + Jets vs. Lightning over 6.5 goals (+517)

Rangers vs. Penguins under 6.5 goals (-120): Fewer teams are receiving better goaltending than these two squads.

New York is getting excellent play out of the tandem of Igor Shesterkin and Jonathan Quick. The two combine for the sixth-best save percentage (.914) in the league this season. The latter continues to defy father time as he actually paces the NHL in goals-against-average (1.98).

Pittsburgh is right there, however, ranking eighth in team save percentage at .912. A large reason for its impressive goaltending numbers comes from the fact that the Penguins lead the league in shutouts with five.

The under on this total has hit in each of Pittsburgh's last two games.

Other parlay picks

Devils vs. Red Wings over 6.5 goals (-139): Neither of these two offences are short on firepower.

The New Jersey Devils rank sixth in the NHL in goals per game (3.69) thanks in some part to owning the league's best power play (39.0%).

Goaltending has been an issue for the Devils. They sit 30th in team save percentage (.875) on the year.

The over on this total has come through in four of New Jersey's last five games.

Not far behind are the Detroit Red Wings, who place seventh in goals per game (3.59).

They, like New Jersey, have struggled to keep the puck out of their own net. Detroit places 21st in save percentage (.889) on the campaign.

Jets vs. Lightning over 6.5 goals (-106): This matchup may not have screamed over in recent years but it does in 2023-24.

The under hit on this total in both games between the Winnipeg Jets and Tampa Bay Lightning last season, but these teams are getting by on offence this year.

Winnipeg ranks fifth in goals per game (3.71) as its offence is led by Kyle Connor, who's tied for the league lead in goals with 14.

The Jets, however, have been reliant on their offence to win games as goaltending issues persist. They place 26th in team save percentage with an .887 mark.

The over on this total has occurred in six of their last eight games.

Tampa Bay is playing a very similar brand of hockey. It's offence is firing on all cylinders, averaging the eighth-most goals per game (3.58).

Goaltending, although, isn't holding up its end of the bargain. The Lightning rank 25th in team save percentage (.887) on the campaign.

They've gone over this number in six of their last nine.
