The Favourite
Manchester City (+200)
Manchester City won its fourth consecutive Premier League title last season. The English side was eliminated by Real Madrid in the quarterfinals of the Champions League, though.
Despite that, the talented side has remained mostly intact so it's not all that surprising to see them atop the odds table. That is evident in the team's 3-0-0 start to the Premier League season.
Back-to-back EPL Golden Boot winner Erling Haaland is still leading the charge up front and will be aiming to pace the competition in scoring. He was tied for second last year with six goals.
English star Phil Foden scored five himself. The dynamic duo will look to lead Man City to its second Champions League trophy in three years.
Other Champions League choices
Real Madrid (+350)
Real Madrid usually finds a way to win when it's for European glory.
The Spanish side has won five Champions League trophies in the past decade. This year, it is in the mix to win again.
La Liga's 2023-2024 champions went undefeated in last year's tournament and beat the favourite, Man City, on penalties after a 4-4 aggregate score in the quarters.
England's top team is a force to be reckoned with, no doubt, but there's no reason for Real Madrid not to be the favourite, at least for now.
The team should only get better with young studs Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junoir inching closer towards their prime years.
All that comes before mentioning Kylian Mbappe, who signed for Real Madrid from PSG this summer. Adding arguably the best player in the world to a core stacked with young world-class talent is a dangerous proposition for opponents.
A lot is yet to be determined as the draw for groups can shake up the landscape for any team. However, Real Madrid steps up its play for the Champions League and fans can expect to see the Spanish giant in the knockout stages regardless of its group.
