A pivotal Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final is coming up in Edmonton on Thursday.

The pregame narrative: The Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers have played a defensive series so far but I'm predicting a change of pace for Game 3. I'm also finding value in backing the away team on the moneyline.

Oilers vs. Panthers picks

Best bet: Over 5.5 goals (-103)

In the first two games of this series, I have correctly picked two unders so it would be fair to assume I'd go back to it.

But that would be wrong.

Whether it's the right choice or not is still to be determined, but I can't help expecting some positive regression on the offensive side in this series.

The Oilers' home playoff games have averaged 7.0 total goals. By contrast, Edmonton's road playoff games have averaged just 5.0 total goals.

Sergei Bobrovsky has been stellar for Florida through two games but has a less-than-impressive 3.33 GAA and a .855 SV% in the Panthers' three Game 3s played this postseason.

Aleksander Barkov's status for the game is yet to be determined but if he's out, expect Edmonton's star forwards to have more time and space.

If there was any time for both offences to explode, it would be Thursday.

Key stat: All six of the combined Game 3s played by these two sides have gone over 5.5 goals.

Quick picks

Panthers moneyline (+114): Getting Florida at plus money is too good to pass on right now. Through the first two games, the Panthers have held the Oilers to just one goal while scoring seven.

They have been dominant thus far and now have to carry their momentum on the road, where they play just as well.

Flordia has a 6-2 road record in the playoffs, and one of those losses came in overtime.

Even though I am expecting the Oilers' offence to break out in Game 3, I think the Panthers can keep pace and win a high-scoring contest.

The Panthers boast a +8 goal differential away from home and will look to take a vice grip on this series in Edmonton.
