NHL first-round playoff odds: Maple Leafs underdogs against rival Bruins

The NHL's first round is set and fans and bettors can't complain about the matchups.

The latest: There's never a dull moment when the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins clash. The Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers renew the Battle of Florida in a series oozing with interesting storylines. Out west, the Colorado Avalanche and Winnipeg Jets meet in an ultra-competitive matchup.

Islanders (3) vs. Hurricanes (2)

  • New York and Carolina split the season series (2-2)
  • Carolina beat New York in last year's first round, 4-2
  • Islanders went 20-12-5 with Patrick Roy as head coach
  • Hurricanes have won 13 of 17 games since acquiring Jake Guentzel

Lightning (WC) vs. Panthers (1)

  • Florida won the season series over Tampa Bay (2-1)
