The Boston Celtics remain the betting favourite to win the NBA Finals as first-round playoff action is underway.
The latest: Boston has been the favourite all season after securing its division and easily nabbing the No. 1 seed in the East. In the Western Conference, the defending champion Denver Nuggets top the board and are the only other team with odds shorter than 10-to-1.

The favourite: Boston Celtics (+110)
Could this finally be the year for the Celtics?
Boston has been to the Eastern Conference Finals in five of the past seven years. If there was such a thing as a near-miss dynasty, this team would fit the description.
Led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, the Celtics are steeped in playoff experience. And the road to a title will go through Boston as the team finished with the best record in the NBA.
The Celtics (64-18) were especially dominant at home this past year, going an outstanding 37-4 at TD Garden.
Boston currently holds a 2-1 series lead over the Miami Heat.

NBA Finals notes
- The Oklahoma City Thunder, the West's No. 1 seed, hold a 3-0 series lead over the New Orleans Pelicans. OKC has the best playoff net rating (+18.6) of any team.
- The Minnesota Timberwolves swept the Phoenix Suns and are tied with the Thunder at +1,000 odds to win it all. They'll likely play the Nuggets in Round 2 and won't have home-court advantage after finishing one win behind the reigning champs.
- After going down 3-1 in their series, the Philadelphia 76ers sit at +6,000 odds. Joel Embiid is battling injuries but has wilted away in the fourth quarter this series. Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks are +1,400 to win.
- The Milwaukee Bucks, who have been without Giannis Antetokounmpo (all series) and Damian Lillard (Game 4), are in a 3-1 hole. They are +8,000 to win the championship but would likely require at least one of those players to return to go on a run.
- The Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers head back to L.A. with the series tied 2-2. Kawhi Leonard has been out for two games but those were both games the Clippers won. This series seems like a coin flip, though L.A. is 40-to-1 and Dallas is 12-to-1.
