The NHL's Western Conference final heads to Canada tied 1-1.
The pregame narrative: The Dallas Stars bounced back from a double-overtime loss in Game 1 with a 3-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday. I expect Dallas to cover as a puck line underdog and I am also backing Leon Draisaitl to find the stat sheet.
Check out the full Stars vs. Oilers SGP picks for Game 3 on Monday, May 27.
Stars vs. Oilers SGP picks
Parlay: Stars +1.5 + Under 6.5 goals + Draisaitl to record a point (+290)
Stars +1.5 (-240): Edmonton has driven 5v5 play this series, generating 56.38% of chances with a 57.28% expected goals share, per Natural Stat Trick.
But Dallas has done an exceptional job keeping the puck out of its net lately and that's why I'm backing it tonight.
The Stars have allowed an average of 2.0 goals per game in regulation since losing the opening two games of the playoffs to the defending champion Vegas Golden Knights.
They've cashed this bet in 11 of those 13 contests with Jake Oettinger posting a .929 save percentage and 1.89 GAA.
Stuart Skinner has found a groove since Kris Knoblauch turned back to him in Game 6 versus the Vancouver Canucks, but I don't trust the netminder to stonewall the Stars.
He has an .890 SV% this postseason and Edmonton is 1-8 against this line in his last nine starts.
Other parlay picks
Under 6.5 goals (-165): Dallas' calling card is its defence and goaltending and that's what it should lean on in a tough road setting.
The Stars are great at limiting chances but they're also scoring a middling 2.87 goals per game and have gone under this mark in 11 of 15 playoff games — including each of its last three.
Edmonton has also tightened up defensively after a shaky start to its series against Vancouver. The team is allowing an average of just 2.16 goals per game across its last six.
Draisaitl to record a point (-385): This pick runs contradictory to the first two but generates a nice odds boost thanks to some reverse correlation.
Draisaitl is an all-time playoff performer and that's not an exaggeration. He ranks second in playoff points per game (1.619) behind only Wayne Gretzky.
The German winger was held pointless in Game 2 but he's found the stat sheet all 13 games before that. He leads the playoffs in points (25) and is second in goals (nine).
