CFL Week 1 parlay picks: Bet on the Ti-Cats to win in a +342 ticket

The CFL season is underway which gives bettors a nice slate of choices for a weekend parlay.

The pregame narrative: I'm backing the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to open the season with a win over the Calgary Stampeders while taking an alternate under in the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Edmonton Elks game. Lastly, I'm adding the BC Lions moneyline to close out the parlay.

Check out our CFL Week 1 parlay picks below.

CFL Week 1 parlay picks

Parlay: Tiger-Cats moneyline + Roughriders/Elks under 48.5 points + Lions moneyline (+342)

Tiger-Cats moneyline (-110): The Ti-Cats were a positive team on the road last season finishing with a record of 5-4-0 which was better than their home record of 3-6-0.

Neither of these teams are projected to be great this season but Hamilton should be in the playoff hunt again while Calgary looks to top its previous season's win total of four.

In their one meeting last year, the Cats were able to pull out a 22-15 win in Week 17 by dominating the ground game. Their halfbacks combined for a 7.4 yards per attempt on 18 rushes.

The Stampeders added all-star defensive back, Demerio Houston in the off-season to help bolster up their secondary. But if they can't limit Hamilton on the ground, it won't matter.

Other parlay picks

Roughriders/Elks under 48.5 points (-148): Saskatchewan adding AJ Ouellette in the off-season proves one thing to me — the team is ready to run the ball.

And it has the right matchup to test out the new ground game. The Elks allowed 136.6 rush yards per game last season.

If the Riders can efficiently break down Edmonton's defence with the run game, this game could be played at a gruellingly slow pace equating to fewer points.

The Elks don't provide much of an offensive threat in their own right, scoring the fewest points in the CFL last season (367).

When the two teams met to open the 2023 season, the game ended 17-13 which is well below the total needed here.

Lions moneyline (-278): The third and final leg carries the shortest odds but there's good reason for it.

The Toronto Argonauts' first stretch of the season will be tough without quarterback Chad Kelly who is missing the first nine games due to suspension.

The Lions, who haven't won at BMO Field since 2019 have their best chance in a while to break the draught.

Not only are the Argos without Kelly, but they also lost their starting running back, Ouellette, as previously mentioned.

The 28-year-old ran for 1000-plus yards last season and eight touchdowns while adding two receiving touchdowns.

His production will be hard to replace moving into the new season.
