Best MLB prop bets June 7: Bet on Tatis to stay hot and score a run

I'm running it back with Fernando Tatis Jr., betting him to score a run for a second consecutive night.

The pregame narrative: Tatis is on fire right now during a 12-game hit streak. He scored on Thursday night and has plus-money odds to do it again. My other prop bets involve Tyler Stephenson and Austin Gomber.

Check out the best MLB prop bets for June 7.

MLB prop bets

Best bet: Stephenson over 0.5 runs (+117)

Stephenson might not be a splashy name, but he was drafted to be great. The Reds selected him 11th overall in 2015, ahead of players like Austin Riley, Walker Buehler and Ke'Bryan Hayes.

With a 118 OPS+ so far this year, Stephenson is doing his part from the middle of the Cincinnati Reds' lineup. And his recent production has ratcheted way, way up.

In the past week, Stephenson is 11-for-28 (.393) with a .987 OPS and eight runs scored. He has crossed the plate in all six games so far in June.

Tonight, he'll face Chicago Cubs starter Justin Steele, who was tagged for five runs over 5.0 innings against the Reds last time out. Stephenson singled and scored against Steele in that matchup.

That extended a nice run of success for Stephenson in his pitcher-versus-hitter duel. The catcher is 8-for-13 with a home run, a double and a walk against Steele.

Solo success like that is encouraging, but team-wide success also makes a run prop look good. And Cincy has that, too.

The current Reds lineup is collectively 21-for-62 with a .516 SLG against Steele, per Baseball Savant.

Key stat: In three starts against the Reds dating back to last season, Steele has allowed 16 runs over 14.2 innings.

Quick picks

Gomber over 17.5 outs (-115): Who doesn't love a good revenge game narrative?

Gomber, formerly a fourth-round pick by the St. Louis Cardinals, appeared in 43 games for the Redbirds before being sent to the Colorado Rockies in 2021 in the Nolan Arenado deal. He's now enjoying the best year of his career and has a chance to stick it to his former club.

The 30-year-old lefty has a 3.06 ERA and has cashed this innings prop in five of his past six starts. Last season, he went for 6.0 scoreless innings in St. Louis.

The Cardinals rank 29th in OPS against lefties (.609), so Gomber should keep them off balance.

Tatis over 0.5 runs (+110): This bet cashed for me yesterday and I'll gladly run it back. Tatis is on a different planet right now.

The outfielder is batting .342 over his past 20 games and .449 during his 12-game hit streak. His OPS is back above .800 for the first time since the last week of April.

Getting Tatis to score at plus money feels like a steal — even if he is just 2-for-10 against Arizona Diamondbacks starter Brandon Pfaadt.

Pfaadt got torched by the Padres when he last faced them (five runs and 10 hits allowed in 6.0 innings), and San Diego is batting .309 against him as a team. If Tatis finds a way on, there are plenty of hitters capable of bringing him around.

Tatis has now scored in 12 of his past 20 games.
