There's a handful of afternoon matchups in MLB today, but I'm looking at the evening slate for these parlay picks.
The pregame narrative: My +333 ticket includes an F5 under in the Philadelphia Phillies vs. Boston Red Sox game, as well as a run line pick on the underdog Chicago White Sox. Additionally, I think the Minnesota Twins will beat the Oakland Athletics at home.
Check out my MLB parlay picks for June 13.
MLB parlay picks
Parlay: Phillies/Red Sox under 4.5 runs - first five innings + White Sox +1.5 + Twins -1 (+333)
Phillies/Red Sox under 4.5 runs - first five innings (-127): Philadelphia has scored the second-most runs per game and Boston ranks 11th. With that in mind, an F5 under might not look like the play.
But both teams are strong in the starting pitching department, too, and tonight's matchup between Aaron Nola and Tanner Houck has the makings of a duel.
Nola (8-2, 2.77 ERA) has kept six of his past seven opponents to two or fewer earned runs. Since the start of May, his opponent OPS is just .518.
Houck (6-5, 1.91 ERA) has a .504 opponent OPS on the season. This F5 under is 8-5 in his 13 starts.
I expect both pitchers to do their part in keeping first-half scoring to a minimum.
Other parlay picks
White Sox +1.5 (-177): Aside from the Seattle Mariners' eight-run flurry in the final two innings on Monday night, this White Sox/Mariners series has featured very little offence from either side.
And in a setting where margins are tight, I think Garrett Crochet and the Sox can hang around.
Chicago has covered this run line in seven of Crochet's past eight starts, and he's a huge reason why. The lefty flamethrower has a 1.37 ERA and a 12.3 K/9 in that span.
Seattle's Luis Castillo is coming off his worst outing of the year (five runs on six hits over 5.0 innings), but the Mariners have rarely supported him even when he's in a groove. In Castillo's 14 starts, the M's have only covered a -1.5 run line four times.
The Mariners have also only covered as run line favourites in two of their past nine games overall.
Twins -1 (-186): The Twins have shrugged off a five-game losing skid, winning three of their past four games and scoring a whopping 37 runs in that span.
Royce Lewis returned last week from a quad injury and immediately started to mash. Carlos Correa and Willi Castro are among baseball's hottest hitters right now, too.
Now facing Oakland (26-44) for the first time this season, I expect Minnesota to keep the good times rolling.
Joe Ryan, who starts for the Twins, has a 3.30 ERA this season. He has allowed three or fewer earned runs in 11 of 13 starts.
Minnesota is 10-2 against Oakland over the past two seasons, which includes a win with Ryan on the mound last year.
Picks made at 9:05 a.m. on 06/13/24.
