Oilers vs. Panthers Stanley Cup Final Game 5 props: Bet on McDavid to carry offensive burden

The Edmonton Oilers will fight to stay on the comeback trail tonight against the Florida Panthers.

The pregame narrative: The Oilers still have quite a hill to climb if they want to be Stanley Cup champions, but Saturday night's 8-1 win propelled them in the right direction. In Game 5, I'm finding value in McDavid to score a couple of points while buying low on Zach Hyman's shot prop.

Check out these Oilers vs. Panthers props for Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final on June 18.

Best bet: McDavid to score 2+ points (+102)

Finding value in McDavid's prop markets is always a challenge, but I think riding with his momentum from Game 4 is a smart play.

McDavid is -114 to score a power play point, but he's been ice cold with the man advantage. In his last 13 games, Edmonton's captain has cashed that bet only three times.

Yet in that same stretch, he's scored 17 points — with seven multi-point games.

Edmonton has just one goal with the man advantage in 16 tries throughout the Cup Final, so backing McDavid to cash in on the power play is a tough sell. So I'm staying away from that one.

Despite the lack of man-advantage success, McDavid hasn't slowed down in terms of overall production.

He's the NHL playoffs point leader (38) and looks to continue to lead Edmonton's comeback effort.

Key stat: McDavid has scored multiple points in six of the last 10 games.

Quick pick

Hyman over 3.5 shots (+135): I took this line last time and it didn't cash, but I'm happy to jump back in at this price.

The playoff shots leader (84) has seven more than second place, Matthew Tkachuk, and 13 more than McDavid, his closest teammate.

Hyman has gone under this number in each of his last five games but was cashing this line frequently before that stretch, recording four-plus shots in seven of eight games.

This feels like a buy-low spot after he had even odds to clear this line in Game 4. I still like the play, and now the line gets even nicer.

I expect Hyman to see more ice time tonight, too. His 17:13 ice time on Friday was his lowest total since the first round.

If he can get back up to his normal 20-plus minutes, he should have more chances in front of the net, where he scored 54 goals in the regular season.
