Canada's top talents are all in action at the French Open, which begins Sunday, May 26.

The latest: Felix Auger-Aliassime, Denis Shapovalov, Leylah Fernandez and Bianca Andreescu will all be competing at Roland Garros. Three are favoured to advance through Round 1, while one has an uphill battle to climb.

Check out the latest first-round Canadians odds at the French Open.

Canadian odds at French Open: Men's

Felix Auger-Aliassime vs. Yoshihito Nishioka

Auger-Aliassime is an impressive 9-4 on clay courts this year but his record requires some context.

Most of his victories occurred on his run to the final at the Madrid Open. He lost to Andrey Rublev in a competitive, three-set contest but it's his six wins that require further inspection.

Three of Auger-Aliassime's victories came via withdrawal or retirement, making his path to the final of the Masters 1000 event easier than most.

He did, however, score two notable victories at the tournament. One was over reigning French Open finalist Casper Ruud, and another over Nishioka.

The Canadian ousted the Japanese tennis star to begin his run at Caja Magica. That marked his third consecutive victory over Nishioka.

Nishioka is just 5-5 on the clay courts this year and 12-15 across the last three years.

Denis Shapovalov vs. Luca Van Assche

This match profiles as a tight contest.

Shapovalov is only a slight favourite over France's Van Assche with both struggling ahead of this contest.

The Canadian is 3-5 on the clay courts this year and 10-12 across the last three years. Van Assche is 2-4 on the surface in 2024 and hasn't advanced past the second round at any clay tournament.

Shapovalov hasn't had a lot of success at the French Open.

His most successful run at the tournament was last year when he lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the third round.

This will mark the first matchup between Shapovalov and Van Assche.

Canadian odds at French Open: Women's

Leylah Fernandez vs. Jessika Ponchet

Fernandez has never been a prolific clay-court player.

She's 16-19 on the surface since 2021 and her best result at the French Open is a quarterfinal finish in 2022.

The No. 33-ranked player in the world doesn't have much to feel good about on clay, but she's a different level of player than the one she'll be facing in the Round of 128.

Ponchet is ranked 149th in the world and is more commonly competing at ITF events than WTA tourneys.

She failed to qualify for the three WTA clay events she participated in this year.

Fernandez should be able to win comfortably in this contest.

Bianca Andreescu vs. Sara Sorribes Tormo

It's been a minute since we've seen Andreescu.

The Canadian is returning after a nine-month injury hiatus. She hasn't competed at an event since injuring her back at last year's National Bank Open in Montreal.

How she will perform in her return is anybody's guess, but she was an underwhelming 2-3 on clay courts in 2023.

That was her first-ever losing season on the surface, though, so a return to success is certainly in the cards.

Sorribes Tormo is a difficult draw as she owns an 8-5 record on clay this year and is 38-20 on the surface since 2022.

The Spaniard recently advanced to the third round at the Italian Open and the fourth at the Madrid Open.
