The Edmonton Oilers have a chance to make the Stanley Cup Final very interesting.
The pregame narrative: Edmonton exploded for an 8-1 win after falling into an 0-3 series hole against the Florida Panthers. The Oil can send the series back home with a victory in Sunrise on Tuesday. I say they do it.
Check out my Oilers vs. Panthers best bet for Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final on June 18.
Oilers vs. Panthers best bet
Best bet: Oilers moneyline (-118)
We'll have an answer to what happened on Saturday by the time Game 5 ends.
Either Edmonton's performance was the biggest dead cat bounce in history or Florida is in for a real sweat. I think it's the latter.
The Oilers' offence finally woke up and I expect it to keep chugging.
Connor McDavid led the way with four points and helped put the game out of reach by the halfway mark of the second period. Fifteen Edmonton players found the stat sheet as the team chased Sergei Bobrovsky from his crease.
It was a statement game but in reality, the Oilers probably didn't deserve to be down 0-3.
Edmonton dominated play in the series opener, out-chancing Florida 51-to-34 at even strength, per Natural Stat Trick. Money Puck states that Sergei Bobrovsky saved 5.7 goals above expected in that contest.
Florida was the better team in Game 2 but Edmonton had its fair share of looks in Game 3. A poor 10-minute stretch in the second period derailed its chances but the Oilers still had more expected goals in that contest.
But expected goals don't win you Stanley Cups — real goals do.
I liked what I saw out of Kris Knoblauch's squad on Saturday. All four lines were humming and the team's biggest stars found a way to take over in a must-win game.
Will the Oilers win the Cup? That seems unlikely. But I definitely think they're capable of sending this one back home.
Edmonton has lost three games in a row three times this year and it has responded with huge winning streaks:

Edmonton has the best two players on the ice and I expect McDavid and Draisaitl to make that known.
Key stat: Edmonton is 6-4 on the road this postseason.
