Canada/Ireland preview
Canada's first T20 cricket World Cup appearance didn't go well, and the team isn't favoured to fare any better on Friday.
Ireland, ranked No. 11 in the world, is a heavy favourite over No. 23 Canada. Even though their most recent head-to-head matchup resulted in a 10-run victory for the Canadians.
That match happened back in October 2019, in a qualifier for the 2020 World Cup. And Canada's squad looked a bit different.
Scarborough, Ontario native Nitish Kumar racked up 53 runs en route to earning man-of-the-match honours. Kumar no longer bats for Canada, though, as he moved to the U.S. during the pandemic and is now on their roster.
With Kumar, maybe the odds for this matchup would be a bit different. But as it stands, the current Canadian side isn't expected to keep up with the Irish.
Canada, after all, entered play in a tie for the longest odds to win the tournament (+250,000).
Prior to their 2019 meeting, Canada and Ireland hadn't faced each other since 2013.

Aaron Johnson to score a half-centry | +350 |
As was the case in the tournament opener, Aaron Johnson has Canada's best odds to win player of the match.
But there are eight Irish players with shorter odds than Johnson, which is an indication of how tilted this matchup is expected to be.
The right-handed batsman, who is initially from Jamaica, has five half-centuries in two centuries in 17 career T20 matches.
