England is two points clear of Denmark in the Group C table but that doesn't tell the full story.
The Danes probably deserved more than a draw against Slovenia. They held 67.9% possession, completed 658 passes to Slovenia's 311, and generated 0.55 more expected goals, according to TheAnalyst.com.
Slovenia's game-tying goal took a wild deflection from outside the box to find the net. But sometimes that's just how it goes.
Overall, I'm impressed with Denmark's game and expect the team to have a solid effort against a slumping English side.
The Three Lions barely scraped by against Serbia and had just one win in five games before that (1-1-3). That includes a shocking 1-0 loss to Iceland in this month's friendlies and a 2-2 draw to Belgium in March.
England had a slim 53.2% possession advantage against the Serbs and managed just five shots — three on target — in the game. That netted out to 0.52 expected goals.
It's a little shocking to see a team with Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden and Jude Bellingham struggle to produce offence like this. England also has some defensive deficiencies that better teams like Denmark should expose.
Until proven otherwise, I'm skeptical of England's chances in this tournament. Getting the Danes at plus money to at least tie is solid value.
