The Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning wrap up their regular seasons on Wednesday night.

The pregame narrative: This game lacks stakes for Toronto and Tampa Bay, but there's something big on the line for Auston Matthews. I'm betting on the superstar forward to score his 70th goal of the season in a Maple Leafs win.

Check out the best Maple Leafs picks and odds vs. the Lightning for April 17.

Maple Leafs picks and props vs. Lightning

Best Bet: Matthews to score a goal (-141)

Toronto's playoff path is already determined. It will finish third in the Atlantic Division and battle the Boston Bruins.

The same goes for Tampa Bay. The Bolts will square off with the Florida Panthers in the opening round.

Neither team has anything to play for in this contest.

That means the biggest storyline entering Wednesday's game is Matthews' quest for 70 goals.

The Maple Leafs superstar is stuck on 69 with one game remaining. He and his teammates will be doing everything they can to get him there.

Tonight seems like a great night for Matthews to hit the mark. It's hard to imagine the Lightning putting together a defensive masterpiece in a game where they just want to escape healthy.

Additionally, it's likely that Tampa Bay rests starter Andrei Vasilevskiy and injured backup Jonas Johansson. Third-string netminder Matt Tomkins is next up and his NHL numbers are less than impressive.

Tomkins owns an .891 save percentage across five starts and has allowed three-plus goals in four of his appearances.

Expect Matthews to throw everything on goal and for at least one shot to find the back of the net.

Key stat: Matthews has 10 goals in his last nine games.

Quick pick

Maple Leafs moneyline (+110): This is strictly a play on the price.

There's nothing on the line for either team but Matthews' quest for 70 goals could supply Toronto with a spark.

Tampa Bay has played like a team with nothing at stake recently. The Bolts have lost three consecutive games to the Ottawa Senators, Washington Capitals and Buffalo Sabres.

The Maple Leafs have played well against the Lightning this season, winning two of the three games in their head-to-head series.

Take the plus-money odds in a game that could play out in a number of different ways.
