Two moneyline picks and one run line play make up today's +414 MLB parlay.
The pregame narrative: Tarik Skubal has been on fire and I expect him to keep the struggling Texas Rangers at bay. Elsewhere, the Cincinnati Reds are my bet to beat the Colorado Rockies and the Los Angeles Angels are worth teasing up as underdogs on the run line.
Check out my MLB parlay picks for June 3.
MLB parlay picks
Parlay: Tigers moneyline + Reds moneyline + Angels +2.5 (+414)
Tigers moneyline (-109): Skubal is the AL Cy Young favourite for a reason.
The Tigers' ace brings a stellar 2.01 ERA to the table to pair with an equally impressive 0.82 WHIP.
Skubal ranks in the 88th percentile or higher in xERA (2.42), xBA (.205), K rate (31.2%), walk rate (4.3%) and hard-hit rate (29.9%), per Baseball Savant.
A year ago, facing the Rangers would be a daunting task, but that's far from the truth right now.
Texas is dealing with a World Series hangover in the hitting department. The team posted the 10th-worst wRC+ (89) and 13-worst batting average (.232) in May and I expect Skubal to keep scoring low.
Texas counters with Nathan Eovaldi who has a 2.84 ERA in eight starts this year.
But he missed most of May and is making his second start back since injury. Eovaldi only threw 37 pitches on May 28 and this Detroit Tigers lineup owns a .304 collective batting average against him in 50 plate appearances.
Other parlay picks
Reds moneyline (-117): A stoppable force meets a moveable object when the Rockies host the Reds in Colorado tonight.
Cincinnati's offence is laughably bad. The team ranks 29th in batting average (.220), 27th in wRC+ (87), and 21st in runs per game (4.10).
But the Reds get struggling righty Ryan Feltner, who carries a 5.46 ERA and 4.26 FIP into this game. He's given up five earned runs in three of his last five starts and owns a 26th percentile K rate (18.6%).
If there was ever an arm Cincinnati could get after, it's Feltner.
And the Reds counter with lefty Andrew Abbott, who has been largely solid this year. The southpaw has a 3.29 ERA and has given up two or fewer earned runs in nine of his 11 starts.
Colorado ranks 24th in wRC+ (87) versus LHPs.
Angels +2.5 (-230): Finally, I'm teasing up the Angels to a +2.5 run line against the San Diego Padres.
Los Angeles turns to lefty Tyler Anderson, who carries a 2.47 ERA into this contest. The southpaw has dominated this Padres lineup in the past, holding it to a .193 batting average in 123 plate appearances.
San Diego has really struggled to hit lefties this year, ranking 23rd in wRC+ (87) and 24th in batting average (.230).
L.A. is 33-20 as a run line underdog this year.
