The latest: Last week's Hall of Fame game didn't have much star power but fans should get a glimpse of some top draft picks this time around. One player already confirmed to take the field is No. 2 overall pick Jayden Daniels for the Washington Commanders.

Betting insights
- No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams didn't play for the Chicago Bears in the Hall of Fame game against the Tennessee Titans but he might find the field this week. He is projected to get around 45-55 snaps this preseason.

- The New York Giants are 3.5-point favourites with Drew Lock under centre against Hendon Hooker for Detroit. Hooker missed his entire 2023 rookie season with an injury after beating a standout on the Tennessee Volunteers.
- An interesting matchup between two former starting quarterbacks is seemingly taking place when Justin Fields and the Pittsburgh Steelers host Davis Mills and the Houston Texans. Russell Wilson has been dealing with an injury and isn't cleared to practice as of Aug. 4.
- The Baltimore Ravens had their 24-game preseason win streak snapped last season but are favoured in their opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. Head coach John Harbaugh consistently has his team ready to go before Week 1.
- Speaking of Harbaugh, this will be the first time we see his brother, Jim, on an NFL sideline since 2014. The new head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers is coming fresh off a national championship at Michigan.
- The new-look New England Patriots have a quarterback battle between Jacoby Brissett and Drake Maye. The latter was the No. 3 pick in the draft and should see some reps this week for new head coach Jerod Mayo.
