Tonight's NHL parlay picks feature a game total, a team total and a player prop.
The pregame narrative: The Colorado Avalanche have boasted the most active (and successful) offence so far in the playoffs, and I expect more results from them tonight. I'm also backing Vancouver Canucks centre J.T. Miller to continue his scoring binge.
Check out my NHL playoff parlay picks for April 30.
NHL parlay picks
Parlay: Maple Leafs/Bruins under 6.5 goals + Avalanche over 2.5 goals + Miller 1+ points (+243)
Maple Leafs/Bruins under 6.5 goals (-143): Scoring has already been at a premium in this series, and now the Rocket Richard winner is at serious risk of missing tonight's game.
Auston Matthews, who potted 69 goals for the Leafs during the regular season, left Game 4 early and was a limited participant in Tuesday's optional skate. Head coach Sheldon Keefe said it'll be a doctor's call for whether or not Matthews can play tonight.
Auston Matthews made a very brief appearance on the ice at Maple Leafs optional skate then left the ice. Strange.

With or without Matthews, the under looks like the justifiable play in Game 5.
In eight meetings between Toronto and the Boston Bruins this season, seven have gone under 6.5 goals. The average goal total in those eight games is 5.4.
Boston's Jeremy Swayman has a 1.32 goals-against average and a .957 save percentage in six starts against Toronto this season. At this number, the under is 10-1 in Bruins games this month.
Other picks
Avalanche over 2.5 goals (-240): Colorado has followed a simple offensive formula in the postseason. Take a lot of shots, score a lot of goals.
The Avs have scored 22 goals in just four games, notching five or more in each matchup. They lead all playoff teams in some other key stats, too (via Natural Stat Trick):
- 38.3 shots/60
- 36.5 scoring chances/60
- 4.3 xGoals/60
Winnipeg Jets netminder Connor Hellebuyck is a Vezina Trophy finalist and was stellar against Colorado during the regular season, but not even he can stop the Avs' hyper-active assault.
Colorado led the NHL in goals per game during the regular season (3.7), and the team has found another gear since then.
Miller 1+ points (-240): Miller has gotten better with age, which has turned out quite nicely for the Vancouver Canucks.
The 31-year-old has been a point-per-game player or better in four of his five seasons in Vancouver. This year, he posted career-bests in goals (37) and points (103).
That success has carried over to the playoffs, where Miller has six points in four games. Overall, he's cashed this prop in 64 of 85 games (75.3%) on the year.
Miller is the Canucks' top-line centre, and he sees about 3:30 on the power play each game. He'll have plenty of chances to get on the score sheet tonight.
Picks made at 12:30 p.m. on 04/30/24.
