A 2023 Grey Cup rematch kicks off the new CFL season in Winnipeg.
The pregame narrative: The Winnipeg Blue Bombers were upset by the Montreal Alouettes as 7.5-point favourites in the Grey Cup last season. They're 7.5-point favourites again to open the season but in this meeting, I'm picking Winnipeg to get a little revenge.

Alouettes vs. Blue Bombers best bet
Best Bet: Blue Bombers -7.5 (-106)
Even though the Bombers lost 28-24 to the Alouettes in the Grey Cup in November, there's reason to believe that was an anomaly.
Winnipeg dominated the standings last year finishing 14-4 and having the highest point differential in the league (217).
That included a 17-3 win over the Als in Week 4 in Montreal. It's easy to overthink this one due to recency bias but the Bombers are Grey Cup favourites heading into the season for a reason.
If Zach Collaros can match his 2023 season where he threw for 4,525 yards and 33 touchdowns, it's going to be hard to stop this offence once again.
The defence was also stellar last year allowing the fewest touchdowns in the league (35). Not enough has changed to think that the team that was the best on both sides of the ball won't maintain that standard.
Winnipeg will want to show the CFL that they are still the league's best team and I expect them to do so.
Key stat: The Blue Bombers won by eight-plus in 13 of its 14 wins last year.
