76ers vs. Knicks SGP picks Game 1: Bet on Sixers to cover alt spread, Anunoby on the glass

Two red-hot teams meet in Round 1 when the New York Knicks take on the Philadelphia 76ers.

The pregame narrative: Philly won nine straight games heading into the postseason while New York took six of its last seven en route to securing the No. 2 seed. I'm expecting the 76ers to cover an alternate spread in the opener and am fading Jalen Brunson while backing OG Anunoby.

Check out the full 76ers vs. Knicks SGP picks for Game 1 of their first-round matchup on April 20.

76ers vs. Knicks SGP picks

Parlay: 76ers +6.5 + Brunson under 30.5 points + Anunoby over 3.5 rebounds (+325)

76ers +6.5 (-210): Something has to give in this matchup.

Philadelphia has won every game since Joel Embiid returned on April 2 while New York is an impressive 20-3 with OG Anunoby in its starting lineup.

I'm still happy to bank points with the road team even though the Knicks covered this number in 14 of those games (60.8%). That's because the Sixers are 31-8 when the reigning MVP plays, covering a +6.5 spread in 35 of those contests (89.74%).

One of the outliers was a 128-92 blowout at the hands of New York but I don't expect Philadelphia's defence to give in that easily tonight.

Nick Nurse's squad had the best defensive rating in April (101.4) while holding opponents to the lowest field goal percentage (42.2%).

Other parlay picks

Brunson under 30.5 points (-114): Philly's defence ratcheted up during the homestretch but it's been great at defending opposing point guards all season.

According to Fantasy Pros, the squad allowed the second-fewest points per game to PGs, behind only New York.

Brunson scored 30-plus points in seven straight games to close out his season but he fell under this number in all four games versus the Sixers.

The first-time all-star scored 20, 19, 21 and 29 points in those games while shooting 40.3% from the field and 30.0% from deep.

Anunoby over 3.5 rebounds (-182): Anunoby does it all for the Knicks and this, in my opinion, should be a safe spot to back him.

The former Toronto Raptor cleared this mark in 15 of 23 games with the Knicks and faces a huge plus matchup.

Philadelphia has allowed the third-most rebounds per game to opposing small forwards this season and has the sixth-worst road rebounding rate in the NBA.

New York has a lot of cooks in the kitchen but Tom Thibodeau isn't shy about giving his star players plenty of runway.

Anunoby averaged 35.7 minutes per game in January and cleared this line in 10 of 14 games. He's gotten six games under his belt since returning from injury and should be in line to see that type of workload on Saturday.
