Oilers vs. Panthers Stanley Cup Final Game 7 picks: Back Edmonton to win, McDavid to shine

The Edmonton Oilers are one win away from making history on a multitude of levels.

The pregame narrative: The Florida Panthers once led this series 3-0. Now, they host a Game 7 that very few expected. I'm picking Edmonton to win the game and Connor McDavid to shine in the biggest moment of his career.

Check out my Oilers vs. Panthers picks for Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final on June 24.

Oilers vs. Panthers picks

Best Bet: Oilers moneyline (-105)

Edmonton has done the unthinkable.

The Oilers have battled back from three games down in a Stanley Cup series, becoming the first squad to do that since 1945. It's only the third time a team has pulled off such an incredible feat.

The 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs are the only squad to come back and win, but there's reason to believe Edmonton will join them.

The Oilers have drastically shifted the energy of this series. Their offensive output has spiked significantly across the last three games.

Edmonton scored seven goals through the first three outings of the series, and it has 18 goals in three games since.

Stuart Skinner has been excellent since Game 4, also. He owns a stellar .942 save percentage during this stretch, turning aside 81 of 86 shots.

Then there's special teams. Edmonton has been excellent on the power play and the penalty kill all postseason long. It's second among all squads in power play percentage (29.7%) and first on the PK (94.1%).

Florida's offensive stars have disappeared in the latter stages of this series. The team's five leading scorers from the playoffs (Aleksander Barkov, Matthew Tkachuk, Carter Verhaeghe, Anton Lundell and Sam Reinhart) have combined for five measly points over the last three games.

Sergei Bobrovsky's confidence appears to be firmly shaken, making him an untrustworthy netminder ahead of the biggest game of the year.

A Canadian team hasn't won the Stanley Cup since 1993. Bet on the Oilers to change that in Game 7.

Key stat: Bobrovsky owns a horrendous .793 save percentage across the last three games of this series.

Quick pick

McDavid to score 2+ points (-105): Not trying to get all Herb Brooks on you here, but great moments are born from great opportunities.

I expect the greatest player in the league to step up and shine in the biggest game of his career.

McDavid has been otherworldly all postseason long. His 42 points lead the playoffs and are 10 points clear of the next closest player, teammate Evan Bouchard.

The Edmonton captain has three multi-point games in this series, all of which have come within the team's past four outings.

Those picking the Oilers to win likely expect a signature McDavid performance, which is why this wager is a logical extension of my moneyline pick.
