Canada vs. Peru betting preview
Despite losing to Argentina, Canada had its chances and looked like a nation that belongs in Copa America, at the very least.
Les Rouges had an xG of 1.05 compared to La Albiceleste who saw generated 2.34 xG, per FootyStats. In the end, Messi and company were too much for Canada's backline while the offence struggled to take advantage of opportunities.
Peru as an opponent should provide a better gauge of where this squad sits in terms of quality amongst the lower-tier teams in Copa America.
The good news amongst all of this is that Canada avoided getting embarrassed by Argentina and kept its goal differential at a decent number (-2).
That may be important if there ends up being a tie for the second spot in the group.
Canada, ranked No. 49 in the world, had -335 odds of being eliminated in the group stage prior to the tournament starting. That number has widened to -400 even though the team surprised many with how it played in the opening game.
The fact is Les Rouges are 0-0-1 to start and can turn their tournament around with a win against Peru.
Betting on Canada to win carries +130 odds.
