MLB parlay picks April 16: Bet on Acuna to score, Royals to win
Despite not hitting any home runs yet this season, Acuna has scored in 10 of 15 games. Photo by Matt Slocum/AP.

Two player props — headlined by Ronald Acuna Jr. — are part of tonight's +267 MLB parlay picks.

The pregame narrative: Acuna draws an enticing matchup and I'm backing the reigning NL MVP to score. This ticket also includes a prop for Anthony Volpe and a moneyline pick on the Kansas City Royals.

Check out my MLB parlay picks for April 16.

MLB parlay picks

Parlay: Volpe 1+ hits + Royals ML + Acuna 1+ runs (+267)

Volpe 1+ hits (-235): Volpe's hot start to the season was recently rewarded, as Yankees manager Aaron Boone bumped the youngster up to the leadoff spot.

On the season, Volpe is batting .373 with a 1.006 OPS. He's 7-for-19 (.368) in five games since the lineup change, cashing this prop four times.

The right-hander has the platoon advantage tonight against Toronto southpaw Yusei Kikuchi. Volpe has a .270 average against LHPs and a .211 average against RHPs.

Likewise, Kikuchi struggles more often against righties (.273 BA allowed, versus a .211 BA against lefties).

Other parlay picks

Royals moneyline (-195): Last year, the Royals (11-6) didn't win their 11th game until May 10. Things are going a bit better so far this season.

The same can't be said of the Chicago White Sox (2-14), who are scoring a league-worst 2.13 runs per game.

These AL Central foes have already seen plenty of each other this year. KC is 5-0 with a +17 run differential in this matchup.

I expect the Royals to continue rolling tonight in what appears to be an extremely lopsided pitching matchup. Brady Singer (2-0, 0.98 ERA) goes for the Royals against Jonathan Cannon, who's making his MLB debut.

Cannon's debut seems to be more about need than merit. He had a 5.77 ERA in 11 starts for Double-A Birmingham last season.

Acuna 1+ runs (-162): Acuna led the majors in runs last year (149) and he has a fair chance to do it again from atop one of baseball's toughest lineup.

The right fielder has scored in 10 of 15 games so far while posting a .400 on-base percentage. And the scariest part is that he's nowhere near his full potential right now.

Acuna, who hit 41 homers last year, has yet to leave the yard this season. It's difficult to see that power outage lasting much longer.

Tonight, he faces Houston's Hunter Brown, who has allowed 19 hits, five walks and 14 runs in his past 3.2 innings of work. It's time for Acuna and the Braves to pounce.

Picks made at 12:10 p.m. on 04/16/24.
