A moneyline and a pair of unders form Friday's MLB parlay.

The pregame narrative: The San Diego Padres have been an inconsistent bunch but I'm picking them to beat the equally inconsistent Toronto Blue Jays. The New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers should play to the under, as well as the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Francisco Giants.

Check out my MLB parlay picks for April 19.

MLB parlay picks

Parlay: Padres moneyline + Mets/Dodgers under 9.5 runs + Diamondbacks/Giants under 8.5 runs (+365)

Padres moneyline (-105): There are plenty of similarities between these two teams.

Both are looking to put underwhelming 2023 campaigns behind them. They each enter today's contest one game above .500, also.

There are a few reasons to back San Diego in this spot, however, with the first being offence. The Padres rank sixth in the majors in OPS (.751) while the Blue Jays are a pedestrian 19th (.688).

Additionally, I give a slight edge to San Diego on the mound. Matt Waldron isn't anything special, but he's not a liability either. He carries a 3.14 ERA and 3.13 FIP into this start.

Toronto counters with Yariel Rodriguez. Rodriguez ceded one run across 3.2 innings in his MLB debut, but did surrender four hits and a pair of walks.

This game could get ugly if Rodriguez is on a short leash again. The Blue Jays are 27th in bullpen ERA this season (5.53).

Other parlay picks

Mets/Dodgers under 9.5 runs (-195): Secondly, I'm taking the under between New York and Los Angeles.

Both starters, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Sean Manaea, have been (mostly) solid in 2024.

Yamamoto hasn't allowed a run to a team not named the Padres. He hurled five shutout innings against both the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs following his debut.

He did, however, allow eight runs in six innings against San Diego.

Manaea looked solid through his first two starts of the season. He only allowed four hits and one run across 11 combined innings before getting chased from his most recent start.

Manaea allowed eight runs across 3.2 innings pitched against the Kansas City Royals.

The larger body of work from these pitchers suggests the under will be in play.

Diamondbacks/Giants under 8.5 runs (-180): Jordan Montgomery makes his Arizona debut and the expectations are high.

The starter has been ramping up in the minors after signing late in the offseason with the Diamondbacks. He knows the team well, however, after beating them in the World Series final as a member of the Texas Rangers.

Montgomery paired a 3.20 ERA with a 3.56 FIP last year, and similar results are the expectation in 2024.

The reigning NL Cy Young winner, Blake Snell, hasn't started strong with the Giants. He has a 12.86 ERA in two starts, but his career 3.27 ERA presents reason to be optimistic.

The under on this total has hit in nine of San Francisco's last 13 games and eight of Arizona's last 11.
