It all comes down to this.
The pregame narrative: The Edmonton Oilers are on the brink of completing the greatest comeback in NHL history. I say they do it. Bet on the Oilers to win and Zach Hyman to produce against the Florida Panthers in Game 7.
Check out the full Oilers vs. Panthers SGP picks for Game 7 on Monday, June 24.
Oilers vs. Panthers SGP picks
Parlay: Oilers moneyine + Hyman to record a point + Under 6.5 goals (+290)
Oilers moneyline (-105): There are two sides to every coin. This would be a historic comeback but you can argue it would be an even worse choke.
Florida look physically and mentally outclassed as this point and I think Edmonton walks into their barn to deliver the death blow tonight.
Since going up 3-0 the Oilers have outscored the Cats 18-to-5.
Stuart Skinner is completely outplaying Sergei Bobrovsky which isn't something many would have had on their bingo cards heading into the series. But Edmonton's netminder has clutched up when it matters. He is 10-0 with a 1.50 GAA and .940 SV% in Games 4-7 these playoffs.
It helps that the Oilers can tighten up defensively in the toughest moments as well. They only allowed two first-period shots on goal on Friday night and 21 in total.
Connor McDavid is having an otherworldly run and I expect the best player in the world to take over and lead Edmonton to a Stanley Cup.
Other parlay picks
Hyman to record a point (-175): There isn't any value backing McDavid to score a point, even in an SGP. So I'll turn to his linemate, Zach Hyman, who is making history of his own this postseason.
Hyman's 16 postseason goals are the most in a single playoff run of any active player in the NHL. That's one better than Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin, who each scored 15 at one point.
The 32-year-old has found the stat sheet in three straight games and is a mainstay on an Edmonton power play which has found its rhythm.
Under 6.5 goals (-250): Two of the last three games have gone over this total but I'm expecting a tightly contested affair in Game 7.
The Oilers are playing fantastic defence and Skinner is seeing the puck well, so I don't anticipate Florida putting up a gaudy total. The Panthers are averaging just 2.6 goals per game this series, after all.
The levy has been broken for Edmonton's offence but this is a leave-nothing-on-the-table type of game. Paul Maurice will have his players fighting for every bit of ice which should lead to fewer chances.
Six of seven Game 7's since 2023 have gone under this total with four or fewer goals scored in five of those contests.
Picks as of 12:00 p.m. on 06/24/2024.
