Canada takes on Chile with a spot in the Copa America knockout stage on the line.
The pregame narrative: Les Rouges beat Peru, 1-0, on Tuesday to secure their first-ever major tournament victory. Another win would guarantee Canada a spot in the quarters, but in all likelihood, a draw would be enough assuming Argentina can beat Peru on Matchday 3.

Canada vs. Chile betting preview
Canada checked a few boxes against Peru on Matchday 2: Score a goal and win a game.
The team was 0-2-1 and goalless under Jesse Marsch before then, but that was against three of FIFA's top seven ranked teams in Netherlands, France and Argentina.
Peru isn't on that level but was a solid test nonetheless. La Blanquirroja entered Tuesday's match unbeaten in 2024 (3-2-0) without conceding a goal.
Picking up a gritty 1-0 win was just what the Canadians needed. Les Rouges looked out of sorts in the first half but put together a solid closing 45 minutes capped by this Jacob Shaffelburg-to-Jonathan David game-winner:

Now, the team will be tasked with picking up points against a struggling Chilean side.
Chile lost, 1-0, to Argentina on Tuesday after an 88th-minute goal by Lautaro Martínez broke the deadlock. The Argentines dominated play, though, and generated 2.72 xG to Chile's 0.12.
Offence has been hard to come by in this tournament for Chile as it also drew Peru 0-0 in its opener.
But La Roja were doing well in 2024 before Copa America kicked off.
Chile had beaten Paraguay and Albania, 3-0 apiece, and took a hard-fought 3-2 defeat to France. The team's ceiling is seemingly higher than Canada's, which explains its +105 odds of winning. Canada, meanwhile, sits at +270.
But a draw is likely enough for Les Rouges to advance to the quarter-finals so long as Peru doesn't pull a shocking upset off over Argentina. You can back Canada to win or tie at -141.
Expect Marsch to emphasize defence on Saturday.
