Two playoff-calibre teams meet out west tonight for a matchup between the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers.
The pregame narrative: In what should be an entertaining and competitive matchup on Friday night, I like banking 1.5 runs with the home team. This +255 same-game parlay also features prop bets for Shohei Ohtani and David Hamilton.

Parlay: Ohtani over 0.5 runs + Dodgers +1.5 + Hamilton over 0.5 hits (+255)
Ohtani over 0.5 runs (-143): One of my favourite prop bets for tonight is Ohtani over 1.5 bases (-113), which has a lot to do with his success against Red Sox starter Nick Pivetta. From the leadoff spot, I also think Ohtani has a great chance to score.
Ohtani leads MLB in bases (235) and he paces the NL in both home runs (29) and OPS (1.036).
Even if he doesn't drive himself in, he has plenty of capable sluggers behind him — including Freddie Freeman, batting third, who is 12-for-33 (.364) with five extra-base hits against Pivetta.
Ohtani has scored in 51 of 94 games (54.3%), and he has 22 runs in 24 games since moving to the leadoff spot.
Other parlay picks
Dodgers +1.5 (-230): The Dodgers stumbled quietly into the all-star break, losing five times in a six-game road trip.
They're a different beast at home, though.
Inside Dodger Stadium, L.A. is 28-18 this season. The team's covered a +1.5 run line in 32 of those 46 games (69.6%).
Dodgers starter Gavin Stone is coming off two subpar starts this month, but he's still been solid overall. On the season, Stone has a 3.26 ERA and a 3.57 FIP.
Stone has held opponents to three or fewer runs in 13 of 17 starts — and the Dodgers are 12-5 in his starts this year. He consistently gives L.A.'s lineup a chance to win the ballgame.
Hamilton over 0.5 hits (-182): There's quite a difference between being solid and being untouchable. Stone is certainly not the latter.
The L.A. starter has allowed a .258 expected batting average, which ranks in 29th percentile, according to Baseball Savant. His most common offering is his changeup, and that happens to be a pitch the left-handed Hamilton fares well against.
Hamilton is 6-for-19 (.316) against changeups this year. The shortstop is also 10-for-33 (.303) against sinkers, which is another one of Stone's most commonly used pitches.
Right now, Hamilton is spending most games as Boston's No. 2 hitter. He has recorded a hit in 33 of 51 starts (64.7%) this season.
