Betting insights
- The NL Rookie of the Year favourite Skenes has been tremendous since making his debut nearly two months ago, posting a 2.06 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and a 4-0 record. He'll get things rocking against Luis Severino (3.42 ERA, 1.16 WHIP) as the Pirates open a four-game series at home against the Mets.
- The Blue Jays have lost 11 of their last 15 games. Kevin Gausman (4.75 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) and the rest of the Toronto team will try to regain their footing in a three-game series out in Seattle. It won't be easy as the Mariners are 29-16 at home this season and sit atop the AL West.
- Two top pitchers in the NL square off with Max Fried (2.91 ERA, 1.09 WHIP) and the Atlanta Braves playing host to Aaron Nola (3.43 ERA, 1.04 WHIP) and his first-place Philadelphia Phillies. Fried is in the NL Cy Young conversation as a part of a Braves pitching staff that has the third-best team ERA in baseball (3.47).
- A rivalry that has lasted over 120 years will be renewed Friday as the New York Yankees open a three-game series at home against the surging Boston Red Sox. Boston comes in on a four-game win streak with Tanner Houck (2.68 ERA, 1.02 WHIP) on the mound who's been fantastic. The Bronx Bombers, however, have been struggling as of late. They are coming off being swept by the Cincinnati Reds and are 2-8 in their last 10.
