Canada is in the quarter-finals at its Copa America debut.
The pregame narrative: A 1-1-1 record was enough to get the Canadians into the knockout round. Jesse Marsch's side only scored one goal in Group A and advanced thanks to a 0-0 draw against Chile on Matchday 3. Canada takes on Venezuela, which is a perfect 3-0-0 with a +5 goal differential.

Venezuela vs. Canada betting preview
Canada's road to the knockout stage wasn't pretty.
Les Rouges lost, 2-0, to the defending World Cup and Copa America champions Argentina — but that was to be expected. After that, they picked up a 1-0 win over 10-man Peru and scraped out a scoreless draw against 10-man Chile.
Would Canada be sitting here had Miguel Araujo and Gabriel Suazo not been sent off? Who's to say, but that's part of the game.
One thing is certain: The Canadians will have to find the net if they want to go further.
Canada was 0-1-1 and goalless under Jesse Marsch before Copa America, losing 4-0 to the Netherlands and drawing France, 0-0. That means the squad has scored just one goal in five games with its new head coach in charge.
But let's look at the positives.
Les Rouges did tie FIFA's No. 2 ranked France, look competitive against world-beating Argentina, and hold their opponents scoreless in two huge games to close out the group stage. Canada has been solid against top teams but needs to be clinical in its opponents' final third.
That will come down to the likes of Jonathan David, Alphonso Davies, Jacob Shaffelburg and Cyle Larin stepping up.
Venezuela has been a standout through the group stage with an unblemished 3-0-0 record.
Somos Tricolor picked up a 3-0 win over Jamaica to cement their standing atop Group B. Before that, they beat Mexico 1-0 and Ecuador 2-1.
Those weren't the toughest opponents and the Venezuelans did enter the tournament on a five-game winless drought (0-3-2), but the results are hard to ignore.
Venezuela is FIFA's 54th-ranked team while Canada sits 48th.
