Raptors vs. Heat preview

Toronto struggled without Gradey Dick in the lineup last game, falling well behind early to the Jazz before producing a comeback effort that ultimately fell short.

The Raptors' offence could struggle if the second-year player is again sidelined. He was the best player on the court in an earlier win against the Oklahoma City Thunder, when he scored 18 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out six assists.

Dick's progression as a player is obvious, and fans should be excited about him heading into the season, but there's also hope he can go tonight.

Other offensive-minded players have underperformed for Toronto. First-round pick Ja'Kobe Walter has yet to find his shot, averaging 8.7 points on 26.9% shooting — including an abysmal 11.8% from 3-point range.

There have been some bright spots, though, such as 18-year-old Ulrich Chomche.

The second-round pick is averaging 4.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and two assists on 62.5% shooting. Toronto's newest big man also cashed his lone three-point attempt.

Every Raptor needs to be at his best tonight if the team wants to win against the Heat.

Miami is 3-0 in Vegas largely due to the experience on its Summer League squad. The Heat only have two players under the age of 22, which is unusual for this tournament.

Jaime Jaquez Jr. was a member of the NBA All-Rookie First Team and even saw playoff minutes in the Heat's short run. So it's no surprise he's been their best player.

The 23-year-old is averaging 26.0 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists on .581/.429/.813 shooting splits. He is the standout on a dangerous team that deserves to be the favourite here.
