- Stroman (3.64 ERA) continues to be a consistent starter in the majors. He leads the Yankees as they play host to Gausman (4.44 ERA) and the Blue Jays. Toronto's starter has been much better on the road this season, posting a 2.34 ERA while holding opponents to a .208 batting average.
- The Rangers now sit eight games back of the final AL Wild Card spot while the Red Sox are just two games out. Texas can gain some ground back with a strong series but that's easier said than done as Boston's offence has been on fire, scoring 6.3 runs per game since the all-star break.
