CFL Week 9 parlay picks: Bet on Lions and Alouettes to cover

There are intriguing CFL matchups across the board in Week 9, with plenty of fun options to build a parlay with.

The pregame narrative: I like the league's best teams in the BC Lions and Montreal Alouettes to cover the spread in their respective matchups. Elsewhere, I'm also backing the under in Calgary.

Check out our CFL Week 9 parlay picks below.

Parlay: Lions -3.5 + Alouettes -4.5 + Argonauts/Stampeders under 49.5 points (+597)

Lions -3.5 (-110): BC was the hottest team in the CFL, winning five straight contests before a shocking loss to the Calgary Stampeders two weeks ago.

The Lions are now coming off of a bye week and will be the fresher team in their matchup against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

A rematch of the last two West Division finals will feature Most Outstanding Player of the Year candidate Vernon Adams Jr. He's had a wonderful season for the Lions throwing for 2,395 yards (first) and 14 touchdowns (second), while also having the second-highest efficiency rating in the league (108.7).

The same success has not been there for Winnipeg's offence and its pivot Zach Collaros.

The Bombers have stumbled out of the gate and still haven't found their footing. After starting 0-4 for the first time since 2012, they were seemingly figuring things out by winning back-to-back games, including putting up 41 points against the Stampeders

But Winnipeg has since lost two straight games while scoring a combined 25 points. The offence sits in the bottom three in most major categories while Collaros is among the worst-qualified quarterbacks.

I'm backing BC's offence to break through like they have all year and Winnipeg's offence to crumble.

Other parlay picks

Alouettes -4.5 (-110): I like the other top Grey Cup contender Alouettes to beat up on a bad Hamilton Tiger-Cats team.

This game will come down to whether the Ti-Cats can outscore their problems like it has all year. They will face their biggest challenge to this point, however, against this Montreal defence.

Regarded as the best unit in the CFL, Montreal sits at the top of most per-game defensive categories, including points (21.7), passing yards (223.1) and total yards (317.3).

The Alouettes have also only allowed more than 23 points twice since Week 14 of 2023, and only once this season.

Combine that with Hamilton's spotty defence and Als starter Cody Fajardo back in the lineup, I like Montreal to cover.

Argonauts/Stampeders under 49.5 points (-110): I'm backing the under out in Calgary with two poor offences matching up.

While BC and Hamilton is a matchup of two high-powered offensive units, it's the complete opposite between the Stampeders and Toronto Argonauts.

Both teams are coming off poor offensive showings last week. Calgary only scored a staggering three points against the Ottawa Redblacks while Toronto squeezed out 16 points in their overtime win over Winnipeg.

Both teams sit in the bottom half of the league in net offence, first downs, and passing yards per game.

It's also unclear who the pivot will be for Toronto moving forward. Cam Dukes and Nick Arbuckle split reps at practice all last week before Dukes was pulled after only the first quarter against the Bombers.

Arbuckle played the remainder of the game but wasn't much better than his counterpart.
