Canada vs. Nigeria preview
Through two games, Canada is winless but has one last shot at victory against Nigeria.
The Canadians lost to Australia by five points due to shooting an abysmal 21-for-60 from the field (35%). They shot 15 threes and hit seven of them (47%) which is a good percentage but Canada's offence left too many points on the table in the end.
Nigeria beat Australia by 13 points and had similar efficiency on offence. The Nigerians shot 25-for-68 from the floor (35%) but shot worse than Canada from distance going 9-29 (31%).
The difference in the two games was the defence. Nigeria limited the Aussies to 12-fo-30 shooting (40%) and 10-for-27 from deep (37%).
In contrast, Canada allowed them to shoot 23-for-46 from the floor (50%) and 6-for-15 (40%) from three.
It also helped that Australia missed 10 free throws against Nigeria.
This game feels like it will come down to which offence decides to show up for Canada. If efficient and smart, the Canadians have a good matchup to get their first win but will certainly have their work cut out to cover the six-point spread.
