CFL Week 4 parlay picks: Bet on the Blue Bombers to claim their first win

Despite starting 0-3, the Blue Bombers are favoured to win their first game. Photo by Patrick Doyle/CP.

Week 4 of the CFL season is here and it brings some fun matchups with plenty of parlay options.

The pregame narrative: The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have started a CFL season 0-3 for the first time since 2012, but I like them to get their first win against a spotty run defence in Calgary. Elsewhere, I like the overs this week in both Vancouver and Ottawa.

Check out our CFL Week 4 parlay picks below.

Parlay: Blue Bombers moneyline + Elks/Lions over 53 + Tiger-Cats/Redblacks over 51.5 (+476)

Blue Bombers moneyline (-175): It might seem crazy to back the Bombers against the Stampeders, but hear me out.

This is an unprecedented start for Winnipeg. Along with going 0-3 for the first time since 2012, it lost consecutive home games for the first time since 2018.

While Winnipeg's passing offence has been the worst in the league, the rushing attack hasn't been as bad. It sits sixth in the CFL in rushing yards per game (78.7) and seventh in average gain per rush (3.9).

Keep in mind that's largely been without the reigning Most Outstanding Canadian Brady Oliveira, who's finally off of the injury report.

That's all important because Calgary has not defended the run well. The Stamps are in the basement in the league in both rushing yards allowed per game (120.5) and average gain per rush (6.7).

I like a fully healthy Oliveira to run wild all over McMahon Stadium.

Also, if Winnipeg is going to get out of a slump, it could be against a team they have won seven out of the previous eight meetings with.

Other parlay picks

Elks/Lions over 53 (-110): I'll always back the over when two of the CFL's best quarterbacks go head to head in McLeod Bethel-Thompson and Vernon Adams Jr.

This is the highest over total this week and for good reason. Last week alone, the BC Lions put up 500 yards on offence and the Edmonton Elks were in a nearly 80-point duel against the Toronto Argonauts.

It's of course because of the gunslingers on both sides, and the QB in Edmonton has transformed their offence.

Bethel-Thompson leads the CFL in completions (89) while also being second in yards (978) and touchdowns (6). The Elks as a team are also top five in most offensive categories including points per game (26.3) and net offensive yards per game (359).

The home team boasts a pretty good offence itself led by Adams Jr.

The 31-year-old is a major piece in the league's most explosive offence, throwing for 1,038 yards (first in the CFL), six touchdowns (second-best) with only one interception.

The Lions top the league in average yards per play (7.5), and net offensive yards per game (408.3), while claiming second in total first downs (64).

I like both offences to show up in this one with the two hottest quarterbacks north of the border.

Tiger-Cats/Redblacks over 51.5 (-110): To round out the week I like yet another over with another top offence in the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Despite being 0-3, Hamilton's offence has been impressive. It is averaging the second-most net offensive yards per game (394.3) while Bo Levi Mitchell has gotten off to a great start. The 34-year-old has thrown for 83 completions (second-best), 975 yards (third-best), and six touchdowns (second-best).

While the Ottawa Redblacks' offence hasn't been very good under first-year starter Dru Brown, the Ti-Cats defence has been middling and rolls out a relatively inexperienced secondary.

Hamilton has hit this over in every one of their three games to start the year, while Ottawa and Montreal combined for a whopping 68 points last week.
