The Canadians are one of the favourites heading into the Olympics and past friendlies have shown why. They lost 86-72 to the USA in their first exhibition but the Americans needed to use their entire super-powered roster to get it done.
In the next game against France, Canada won 85-73, easily handling one of the other big threats that will be present in Paris this summer.
Puerto Rico is a major step down but opponents like this can be telling as the mentality should be that every game is important heading into late July.
That is because every game will be important in Group A. Alongside Canada is Giannis Antetokounmpo-led Greece and the always consistent Spain and Australia.
There are no freebies so Canada should want to make a statement as 18.5-point favourites here especially since two other countries in Group A have already had friendlies against Puerto Rico with varying results.
Australia was able to handle the Puerto Ricans 90-75 whereas Greece struggled winning by just one basket, 67-65. That was without Giannis which is important to note.
We'll see what kind of lineup Canada presents on Sunday but the country has a deep enough basketball roster now that any result besides a win would be a major disappointment.
