One of Spain and Greece will get their first win at the 2024 Paris Games on Tuesday.

The pregame narrative: Greece lost to Canada in its opening match but put forward a strong effort that gives me confidence in the nation moving forward. That's why I'm backing the Greeks to cover the spread against Spain in Group A.

Best Bet: Greece -4.5 (-110)

Despite losing to Canada, Greece was impressive against one of the tournament favourites and never looked out of the game.

The team was able to negate all of Canada's big runs and make it a close contest right down to the final buzzer.

Giannis Antetokounmpo led Greece with 34 points and was a force against Canada's smaller bigs. Spain suffers from a similar problem with no true paint enforcers but they also lack athleticism, unlike the Canadians.

That makes me wonder who can guard Giannis on the Spanish side. It has a lot of 3-point specialists which is nice in some ways but the defensive effort shown by Spain against Australia was poor. It allowed 92 points in the opening match.

It's also a huge benefit to have the best player on the court in basketball and that luxury goes to the Greeks.

Spain's roster isn't the same powerhouse it used to be when it was led by the Gasol brothers. Additionally, it's much weaker than Canada's.

That's why I'm looking at this as a buy-low opportunity on Greece and taking the nation to cover this modest spread in Tuesday's game.

Key stat: Greece covered this spread in all four of their Olympic qualifying games, winning each by double digits.
